Don’t worry about ghosts and goblins this Halloween, worry about pumpkin “guts,” they can clog your drains & kill your garbage disposal!!
Pumpkin pies and artistic jack-o’-lanterns are great uses for pumpkins, but the stringy pulp and large seeds are a real nightmare for your kitchen drains and garbage disposal.
Unless you want to see us at your home in our plumber costume, follow these simple tips when handling the slimy, stringy pumpkin pulp and over-sized seeds.
- Use a thick bed of newspapers as your carving board, then wrap up the pumpkin waste and throw in the trash or compost pile.
- NEVER, NEVER put seeds or pulp in the sink drain, garbage disposer or the toilet. Once the nasty guts from the pumpkin harden, they can clog the drain, sewer, and even the garbage disposer.
- You can grow your own pumpkins by planting the seeds early next spring.
- If you get tired of waiting for spring, you can even roast the seeds for a tasty treat that will not clog up your insides.
Remember if you do need us, just call and we’ll fly over on our broomstick…Happy Halloween. (Pass this on to your friends)
Sincerely,
The Plumbing Professors Team
