Reverse Osmosis water filters uses a semipermeable membrane to treat water at the molecule level by applying pressure to the “dirty” water and forcing it through a filter (really a membrane), that membrane can be designed to remove many types of molecules and ions from the water. This is a very simplified explanation of RO systems, while more complicated than filtration systems, RO systems can product excellent water quality and are commonly used in drinking water purification, purification of seawater and removal of other effluents materials from water molecules. The results, you get very clean, potable (Drinkable) water.
